چکیده

Inf lammatory pseudotumor of the urinary bladder is a rare entity that mimics a malignant bladder tumor both clinically and radiographically. We report a 66-year-old man, presented with gross haematuria. Intravenous urography (IVU), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) al l demonstrated a pedunculated polypoid mass originated from the dome of the bladder and invaded the bladder wall. On MRI, the lesion exhibited intermediate signal intensity on T1WI image and a rim of low signal intensity with a high signal core on T2WI image, suggesting a sarcomatoid tumor with a myxoid core. The tumor was removed by partial cystectomy and the pathologic report revealed a benign pseudosarcomatous fibromyxoid tumor. Inf lammatory pseudotumor of the u r inary bladder is a rare, benign tumor that clinically and radiographically mimics a malignant bladder tumor. Some pathologists refer to it as pseudosarcomatous f ibromyxoid tumor because of its character istic proliferative myofibroblasts, fibroblasts, and histiocytes in a background of loose myxoid stroma [1-3]. Since the first description by Roth in 1980 [1, 3, 4], inf lammatory pseudotumor has been a diagnostic dilemma in many parts of the body, often resembling a malignant lesion. Though pathological examination is required for definitive diagnosis [2, 4-6], but increasing experiences with various imaging techniques suggest that there may be some characteristics that should raise consideration of the diagnosis when visualizing a bladder tumor. Here, we report a case of inflammatory pseudotumor of the urinary bladder.
